About
Thanks for visiting. I’m Bob Holmes, hence the BoHo website name. I’m an award-winning London-based artist. My work explores the shifting relationships between myth, dreams, humanity, and the natural world. I studied at Chelsea School of Art and recently began developing a visual language that blends the precision of classical painting with contemporary mixed-media experimentation.
In my work, nature is not a backdrop but a living force; sacred, sentient, and under threat. Lush, dreamlike landscapes are subtly disrupted by traces of human industry, creating a tension between beauty and unease. Through these juxtapositions, I attempt to reflect on ecological fragility, the fading role of myth in modern life, and the spiritual cost of progress.
My practice is defined by meticulous surface detail, atmospheric colour, and layered symbolism. Drawing inspiration from the intricacy of classical eras, while remaining grounded in modern composition, my recent work seeks to bridge ancient and contemporary sensibilities.
Ultimately, my artworks invite viewers into worlds that are both familiar and mythical, encouraging us to reconsider our place within nature as participants in a delicate, shared existence.
